A shower enclosure is a great way of creating extra space in your bathroom, but the question is which type of Shower door should you choose. Here we explain the variety of shower doors available and their suitability for different types of bathrooms.

A bi-fold door provides functionality to any Bathroom but is also great for giving you that extra opening to a narrow space without compromising your bathroom space. The Bi-fold door is a mix of a sliding door and a hinged door. When you open the door, the centre hinges back into a V.

The Corner Entry Shower door is perfect for compact bathrooms.
SLIDING SHOWER DOORS – Best for long narrow Bathrooms or large Bathrooms
Sliding shower doors can help to save space in bathrooms, as they keep the whole shower enclosure compact and slim. If you don’t want a plain straight shower door or are stuck for space at one end, then there is a curved quadrant or offset quadrant Shower Door option. These types of doors need no extra opening room outside the showering area so the extra space which is saved outside can be used with-in the Shower enclosure.
We also offer the option of a triple panel slider door, which allows you that extra access room. See our Verve shower doors range from flair Shower Ireland.
When you have lots of Bathroom space.
PIVOT SHOWER DOORS – Best for large Bathrooms
A traditional shower door the Pivot Door an open-shut shower door which can be configured to open outwards but can be fitted to open inwards depending on the choice of the person designing the bathroom. This type of shower door is more ideal for a bathroom with plenty of space as they can make a bathroom feel even more confined when opening out into the bathroom space. Also bear in mind when you have a pivot door opening outward you will get water drops on the floor, so these types of doors can work best in wet-room style bathrooms or with anti-slip flooring.
N.B. A shower door must be able to open outward due to building codes but can open inwards in addition to outwards. They must never open only inwards. A shower door needs to be able to open outward so that the occupant can be reached in the event of a fall or medical emergency.
The Cara range from Flair Shower Ireland offers a half height door or split doors for easy access for the less abled.
HINGED SHOWER DOORS – Best for large Bathrooms
The Hinged Shower Door is another simple style of shower door, like a Pivot shower door, Hinged doors operate on a hinge system. The difference is that pivot doors can fully open in either direction and the hinged doors only opens outward. The Hinged door like the sliding do is available in both straight or curved offset quadrant shower enclosures.
